Legal Internship Program Announcement

Announcing Legal Internship between Tran Arrowsmith and Lambda Phi Epsilon International Fraternity, Inc.

The law firm of Tran Arrowsmith PLLC and Lambda Phi Epsilon International Fraternity, Inc. are thrilled to announce the Lambda Phi Epsilon Legal Internship Program, which will provide members with an unmatched opportunity to gain legal insight into the operations of culturally-based fraternal organizations (“CBFOs”) and other issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Beginning Summer 2021, one undergraduate or graduate member of Lambda Phi Epsilon with an interest in law, will be placed with Tran Arrowsmith for a semester-long experience. The Internship will strategically expose the Intern to various aspects of Tran Arrowsmith’s practice areas, including fraternal governance, campus recognition, judicial hearings, vendor contracts, as well as member misconduct and response. The Intern will also have collaborative opportunities to assist with various litigation matters, including name changes and claims of discrimination in employment, places of public accommodation, housing, and education.

“References to  ‘traditional fraternity and sorority life’ often overlook the 60+ organizations that belong to NAPA, NALFO, NMGC, and NPHC—and even other groups that do not belong to a conference. As social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion remain at the forefront of our community’s consciousness, this Legal Internship Program seeks to increase legal competency within a part of our community that has been leading on these issues for decades,” comments Lambda Phi Epsilon International Board President, Dr. Bryan Dosono.

“One exciting aspect of the Internship,” states Tran Arrowsmith Partner, Stevie Tran, “is the opportunity for the member to develop a legal-based capstone project like an educational program—content that is currently much needed within the CBFO community. Our Firm is very excited to guide the Intern in creating competent education and training for members and the greater fraternal community.”

The Internship will also provide professional mentorship and development, including a Tran Arrowsmith-sponsored attendance to the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors’ Annual Meeting.
